About Us

THE HOUSE

Dalston Coffee is a brand of artisanal specialty coffee roasted in Barcelona. We opened our first coffee shop in 2017 and also supply coffee to other coffee shops in Spain and across Europe.

We consciously select green beans, gently roast them in batches, and achieve a beverage with a clean and pleasant flavor. Besides, it is healthy as it contains no acrylamides or additives.

We package whole bean coffee in 100% compostable bags, in two formats: the 250g house-shaped bag and the 1kg bag.

THE DESIGN

The brand concept is inspired by the brick buildings and colorful awnings characteristic of the Dalston neighborhood in London, where Borja Roselló (founder) made the leap from professional cooking to specialty coffee.

The packaging was designed by the renowned Íngrid Picanyol and won the Laus Gold Award in 2024. The illustrations on the front of the houses are made by artist Lourenço Providencia.

THE COFFEE

Specialty coffee is not a trend or a pretty name. It is the result of a meticulous process, from cultivation to cup, where quality, flavour and sustainability are the most important.

To be considered "specialty coffee", it must score more than 80 out of 100 points according to the SCA (Specialty Coffee Association), the organization that evaluates international quality standards.

THE ORIGIN

Traceability: Each lot comes from a specific farm and has detailed information about its origin, variety, and processing method (pulping and drying). This allows for a complete understanding of the story behind each cup.

Sustainability: Specialty coffee is produced using practices that prioritise quality and respect for the environment: farms apply responsible agricultural methods, promote biodiversity, and optimise water and soil use.

THE PROCESS

Hand-harvested with dedication: The beans are picked at their optimal point of ripeness. Most are manually selected, without machine intervention and without mixing, ensuring that only the best are included.

Artisanal roasting: Roasting is the moment when the green bean transforms into what we know as coffee. It is roasted in small quantities, highlighting its unique notes. The result can be intense and chocolatey, or light and fruity.
